As a product of the Colorado Public School System and father of three school-aged kids, I am dedicated to ensuring all children in Colorado have access to a quality education.
During my time as a Representative, I have passed bills that:
Provide Free, Full-Day Kindergarten for all families in CO.
Establish a grant program to increase the number of nurses in our schools.
Increase our state’s poor immunization rates so that our children can learn in safe school environments without fear of a preventable outbreak.
Permits Community Colleges to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree to certain students, helping to address our critical nursing shortage in the wake of the pandemic.
Proposed additional safety measures and assistance for students at risk of seizures. It calls for seizure action plans to be created for individual students with a seizure disorder, and for schools to implement annual seizure response training for personnel who work with vulnerable students.
Created a program that allows schools to partner with the Colorado Parks and Wildlife to offer elective hunter's education course (with parental consent).
In the Colorado Senate, I will continue to ensure that our children have every opportunity to succeed by reinvesting in public education, universal preschool, and apprenticeship programs.
